Hmmm … yep, those are the words that I heard describing Gen-Y teens.  The words were used when comparing and contrasting how the Gen-X spent their youth vs. how my peers are growing up.

Gen-X Anthems –

• Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll
• Party all Night, Sleep all Day
• One life I’m gonna live it up.  I’m takin’ flight I said I’ll never get enough
• All day and all of the night
• Friday night and I need a fight
• Girl, don’t go away mad.  Girl, just go away

Gen-Y’s top songs …

• I do not hook up
• If today was your last day
• Do you know what’s worth fighting for?
• Please don’t leave me
• When you see my face, hope it gives you hell

You can probably tell that my passion is music.  But seriously, each generation is defined by its music.

Just comparing the titles says it all.  While Gen-X was pushing boundaries.  Gen-Y is dutiful, competitive and largely living in the box.  Will our generation achieve the huge technological advances that our parents generation achieved?  or will we ultimately be nothing more than a generation of kids who grow up doing what we are told?
