The possibilities for creating your personal project are endless. Make sure you pick something that you like and something you think you’ll have fun doing. You’ll be spending your summer and 4-6 months of the school year working on this project. Make sure it’s something that you can be passionate about.

So my final goal is to investigate the role of social online networkks in education and to use facebook as a primart tool for a virtual classroom for educational purposes.
My AOI focus is Human Ingenuity.
So I live in Jordan, and there is literally no one I can talk to in order to get some primary source (except my teachers). I want to start an online blog, preferably on facebook, to find out peoples’ opinions on the topic I am covering, so I can use that as primary source of information.
Please suggests what I can do! PLEASE ASAP!
Hi, my name is Anne. I have to the Personal Project as well, but I can’t think choose what to do. There are three things I was thinking to do:
- Doing something, not sure what, with field hockey.
- Making pictures of people to show how people can differ only from appearance and choice of clothing.
- And doing something that hardly any people, besides the Dutch themselves, like Dutch liqourish.
I’m also writing a book, but probably won’t be done for another 10 months. I would love to do something with that, but I don’t know how.

we are just starting our personal projects this year, but i’m still not sure what to do as we need to hand in our goals soon! so i am now starting to freak out :O An idea popped into my head the other day. As the personal project is about doing something that interests you, and in some cases is an opportunity to try something new and step out of your comfort zone. My idea was to create a list of 5 things to do before i turn 15 and complete it! I am quite a shy person, and this will, i think, raise my confidence, help me step out of my comfort zone and try something new. I am not sure if this will be too hard to do, and too time consuming as there would be 5 things to do :\ I am still thinking of ideas for this list, and i am having a hard time
some things i have thought of are; skydiving (something i have always wanted to try) and cooking a recipe off master chef, but thats all i’ve got. Also i still don’t know if that is a good idea or not or how to link it an AOI. Most people always have lists off things they want to do in their lives and never get round to it so i though this might be a good opportunity….but i don’t know 
please help, i’m a little bit of a perfectionist and so trying new things is something i want to do, so i’m not just doing all the same boring activities in my life.

I mean, I want to choreograph a contortion act, paint, and write poetry, all showing the struggles within living for other people, making other people happy, but being miserable in the process. I need to figure out my personal project by the end of this month while also getting it approved and securing a supervisor. I made a proposal for my supervisor but she rejected it. My proposal was to make a book about how you can use herbs and common foods to make remedies for common illnesses. My supervisor rejected it saying that it was a good idea but it needed to be more specific and unique because I could just find a book on this topic and just copy off of it. I was hoping you might have an idea to modify my idea or even an idea pertaining to the medical field.
Hey guys, i was just wondering if you could give me ideas for my topic for the personal project. I actually don’t need to start the process yet but i will have to this upcoming academic year, so i thought of using this summer effectively, just to get some ideas.
My biggest problem is that i don’t have any sort of clue of what i want my PP to be about, but i don’t want anything complicated because i want to focus on my essay for a large amount of time.
I am a swimmer and i enjoy it a lot, but because i know several students in my school have related their personal project to swimming, i find it would be kinda boring and unoriginal to do a similar thing.
I was thinking about making a sort of pictorial display or video about how people treat the environment (litter and garbage) since i live in Tanzania, and we don’t really have as many laws to conserve the environment, as other countries do. My only problem is how will i view these pictures to the locals in an accessable manner, and also how will my pictures change the way people conserve the environment. (as in, is it an effective way of portraying why we should conserve the environment.)
Then i was just thinking about medicine, although it is not of my greatest interest… But our family buisness is related to medicine because we own a pharmacy. I was just thinking if i could relate my personal project to something like this, except i don’t really have any good ideas of what i can actually do. Possibly something to do with HIV AIDS since it is a major problem, especially in Africa. Maybe raising awareness to the locals, about how to prevent HIV in a healthy manner. (quick idea: i could raise money from different sales and buy a few small TV’s for the most common pharmacies in the small town i live in this way i can display my movie or video- or i could just simply making it a write up or journal so i can hand it out hardcopy).
Lastly, I was thinking about doing something with the children at my Mum’s orphanage, and doing something with them (possibly teach them how to write) and sort of hold lessons for this because they are quite young. Or even do something with the staff at the orphanage becausee they are not very educated-since the locals usually don’t go to school because their families are unable to afford it or they believe that the women should stay home and clean while the men farm and raise money. So they are not very educated, therefore i could hold lessons for them for about 2 weeks (everyday) to possibly teach them about hygiene and cleanliness- this way they can use this knowledge when in the orphanage with the children there.
I am extremly sorry for writing so much, but if you could please just give me some advice about which idea to use. Or even develop an idea (or if you want propose me with a completely new one)

I’m in the 10th grade now and i want to do something that’s not very complicated and won’t take up much time but at the same time give me a really good mark. I was planning on doing a short story on women abuse which would basically bring out the differences in a woman’s life after abuse (social, health, etc). My AOI would be health and social. I was thinking of writing this in a diary form but then I dont really have anyone to check it, like an editor. Also i don’t know how i would get it printed and stuff. So i decided to change it and do fashion designing instead. I was thinking that since i don’t have time to design clothes, get them made and then put together a fashion show, i would just design them and make a portfolio of a few designs (around 10-12) and get around 5 of them made for display. My aunt owns a boutique so i would have a tailor available but my cousin’s wedding is coming up so i can’t make more than 5 (that’s what my aunt said). So do you think this would be a good idea? My AOI would be human ingenuity of course. Please help me, I’m stressing out!

My previous idea was ‘Diary/Scrapbook of a dancer’ but I have seen the year 9 present theirs and I found the project would be too small. You can connect your project to Human Ingenuity and/or Community and Service. This all depends on the scope of your project and if you have plans for the drawings (like looking to see how if these drawings were brought to life, how they could impact your community - other communities - whatever the case may be.

If you want to broaden the scope of your project, you can look at ballroom dancing (or similar forms) around the world. Analyize different cultures versions of ballroom dancing, create a portfolio of the different dances and how they influence the various cultures they represent… Then maybe you could perform some of the dances to show your judges exactly what you’re talking about (it would be a GREAT visual for the project).

So, I’ve read what some of the ideas you’ve posted and I’ve also done research because i have no idea what to do for my personal project that I will be starting soon.
I though the idea of learning a foreign language was interesting since I’m planning on traveling the world and want to learn a foreign language. Although this is something I would love to do, I’m afraid it won’t be good enough for my personal project!? Do you think if I taught the language I learned to a friend or something it could work?

I am doing my personal project at the moment and have chosen to do a seminar to the grade 8-9s on how the media an advertising is sexualising them at younger and younger rates but I no longer wan to do that because you see I feel it wont be entertaining for them and I don won’t to be known as miss goody two shows for the rest of my high school life I thought I may capture the same topic with photos??? Please helpe thank you do much oh and btw my two biggest hobbies are acting and photography.

That could be cool. The thing with the personal project is just figuring out what AOIs you can connect to. You can present learning a language as an opportunity to be able to communicate with a greater part of the world. Maybe talk about how learning this language will impact your life. Also talk about the cultural differences that exist between English and the language that you’re learning. For instance if you’re learning a romance language like Spanish, you can talk about the culture surrounding the language and how the language develops with the times with phrases similar to English phrases (internet, texting, etc…). I believe that looking at the project from this point of view will be more interesting and will earn you more points with your evaluators than teaching the language to a friend would.

There are a lot of different things that you can do with acting and photography. However, I do like the topic that you’re currently thinking about. It’s a great way to connect to the AOIs. I would just stick with what you have. You can make any presentation more entertaining by being energetic about it and maybe have questions that you ask during the presentation and if people get it right they get a piece of candy or something (you don’t have to do this, but if you’re worried about your presentation’s entertainment value, then it’s a pretty good strategy). Also, don’t worry about getting called a “goody two shoes” for the rest of your life. It’s a presentation for a requirement for your program. If people make fun of you for it tell them to get over themselves. Ultimately I like your current idea. Don’t let what others think about you influence you or pressure you into doing a project that isn’t as interesting as this one.
