We aren’t the “me” generation … we’ll take care of you

I get tired of hearing that Gen-Y is egocentric and primarily focused on ourselves.  When we aren’t doing social work, we pitch in around the house. Ben pitched in to help his dad, Mark, find a job.  Good luck Mark!

The economy is scary for teens. When our parents are faced with a lay-off, we would rather not watch from the sidelines, worrying how economic difficulties will impact our families. Some teens are getting jobs to pitch in. Other’s like Ben are actively involved in the search.

Never before have I cared about the economy. But with the threats that are pressing against our parents this has become and issue. Not only is it scary wondering if your parents are still going to have a job, but it is nerve-wracking for us to think about whether or not there will be jobs available for us once we are out of school. Something needs to be done about our economy.

The video above shows that we aren’t just about ourselves. We do care about those around us, and that maybe we should be taken a little more seriously. I wish more people could see this video, then maybe they would realize that we do want what is best for those around us.
