Really? Dick Cheny thinks the US is less safe under Obama

Asked by CNN if Obama had made the nation less safe by dismantling former president George W. Bush’s anti-terror policies, Cheney said bluntly: “I do.”

Is it sour grapes?  or does the former vice president really believe that the US is less safe?

Cheney told John King on “State of the Union” that Bush administration policies on detention and interrogation of suspected terrorists – some of which were immediately modified by Obama — “were absolutely essential” to preventing another 9/11-style attack.

Again, really?

While condoning torture and violating basic human rights might help preserve United States hegemony, it is simply wrong and reeks of collectivism.  I am proud that President Obama took a stand on US Policy against torture.  I am disappointed that for 8 years our nation condoned this practice using FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) to repress anyone who would choose to speak out against such attrocities.

Now, Mr. Cheny reaches back into is FUD toolkit to scare us into believing that we aren’t safe.  Never mind the deaths of more than 4,000 soldiers, mostly from Gen-Y.  Never mind that we never found weapons of mass destruction.  Never mind that we never found Osama BinLaden.

Here’s a newsflash for Mr. Cheny, your use of fear to make us safe, didn’t make any of us feel safe.  Well, maybe you felt safe.  I didn’t.
